LOS ANGELES – The San Antonio Stars closed out their west coast road trip with a 75-55 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks at the Staples Center on Tuesday night.

Alex Montgomery led the Stars with 12 points and Kayla Alexander chipped in 11 for San Antonio, who lost their second straight game.

These last three games, building foundation, toughness, sisterhood, trust that won’t crack under pressure,” Stars coach Vickie Johnson said. “Discipline and consistency over the 40 minutes. Each player comes out and play at a high level, we want productive minutes. Now we have to see where we are at the end of the season, and make changes to compete with the talent we saw today for every opportunity.”

The Sparks were led by Nneka Ogwumike’s 22 points. Chelsea Gray added 17 for Los Angeles (22-8), who are in the battle with the Minnesota Lynx for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Up next: The Stars are now 7-24 on the season and will return to the court on Friday when they welcome the Minnesota Lynx to the AT&T Center at 7:30 p.m. for their final home game of the 2017 season.
