Stars can’t shine in Chicago, fall to Sky
The San Antonio Stars fought hard, but fell 97-73 to the Chicago Sky inside Allstate Arena on Sunday evening.
Monique Currie had 20 points on 4-of-11 shooting. Moriah Jefferson added 18 points for San Antonio, who has been plagued by injuries woes for the second straight season.
“Just to leave everything on the floor,” Currie said of the plan for the rest of the season. “To take care of the little things and not just look at the season as a whole but kind of look toward the future and see how we can get better and how players individually can get better moving forward to next year.”
Chicago (15-13) was led by Elena Delle Donne’s 35 points. Three other players each finished with 10 points for the Sky, who moved two games above .500 with the win.
“Ee’re trying to clinch the playoffs, Delle Donne said. “It’s really exciting we’re able to get these wins, and especially now that we’re heading on the road, and we’ve got some tough travel ahead of us so we need that momentum to keep pushing forward.”
Up next: The Stars will return home to face the Indiana Fever at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
