Danielle Robinson undergoes successful Achilles surgery

San Antonio Stars guard Danielle Robinson underwent successful surgery to repair a torn Achilles, the team announced on Friday night.

It was reported back in January that the 5-9 guard from Oklahoma University suffered the injury playing in Turkey during the offseason.

“After years of managing pain in my Achilles, I am looking forward to beginning a new chapter of health and healing,” said Robinson. “Though it will be difficult to be sidelined, I am committed to returning stronger than ever and look forward to supporting my teammates in San Antonio this season. I am grateful for all of the love and support I have received from my doctors, my family and friends, the Stars organization, my teammates and my WNBA and USA basketball family.”

There has been no timetable given for Robinson’s return to the court.

The Stars will tip off the 2016 season on  Saturday, May 14 against the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center.
