The San Antonio Stars enter tonight’s matchup with the Tulsa Shock facing a must win situation. A loss would only make the final week of the regular season more interesting as four teams are trying to secure the final two playoff berths in the Western Conference.
San Antonio (13-17) has lost a season-high three straight games and eight of their last ten. The most recent was a 78-73 overtime loss to the league-best Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night. Jia Perkins finished with a game-high 24 points as she hit the game-tying three-pointer to force overtime. However, Phoenix held the Stars to just five points in the final four minutes of the extra frame to get the win.
The Shock (11-19) is coming off a win against the Los Angeles Sparks. The Stars have already clinched the season series over Tulsa with all but one of the three games being won in the final seconds. Rookie Odyssey Sims is averaging 25.0 points while shooting 52.0 percent in the last seven games.
Skylar Diggins had a career-best 34 points against San Antonio in the last meeting between the two teams. The Stars’ magic number to clinch a playoff berth remains at two.
The Stars and Shock are set to tip things off from the BOK Center at 7pm on WNBA LiveAccess.
