After a rested and long All Star break, the San Antonio Stars are back in action tonight.  The Stars (11-12) face the Shock (8-15) at home. San Antonio is coming off a road loss to the same team prior to the All Star break. The silver and black have lost three straight but are firmly in the playoff hunt as they are currently in third place in the Western Conference.  This is the fourth game of a 5 game series. The Stars are 2-1 against the Shock this season and would win the season series with a win tonight.

THREE THINGS TO WATCH FOR

1.  Post Defence –  Both Courtney Paris and Glory Johnson were able to be effective last time these two teams played and the Stars had trouble guarding either player. The Stars are going to need a collective effort to try to stop making it easy for both players to score inside.

2No bad quarters – The Stars seem to play well in three out of 4 quarters in recent games. When the Stars have one bad quarter (it’s been the third quarter in these losses)  they can’t get back in the game. So, the Stars have to play well all through out the game otherwise it will be a loss again.

3.  Skylar Diggins –  The second year guard is having her best season and is coming off a great performance at the All Star Game. The Stars need to make sure that they defend her as well and make sure she doesn’t get others involved for Tulsa.

Other things to watch for

Milestone Watch

Shameka Christon needs 10 points tonight to reach 3000 points. She would be the 48th player in league history to do so.

INJURY UPDATE

Jia Perkins should be ready in action tonight. She could play as she missed the last 8 games with a strained right hamstring injury.

The game will be on WNBA LiveAccess and will tip off at 7 pm local time at the AT&T Center.  Check back for Stephen Anderson’s post game report and follow @StarsHoops Twitter for game coverage.
