The San Antonio Stars (6-6) will try to win three straight games for the first time this season when they face Candace Parker and the Los Angeles Sparks (4-7) on Sunday afternoon. Both teams met last weekend, resulting in a 27-point victory for the Stars.

The Sparks snapped their four game losing streak with an 87-77 win over the Tulsa Shock on Thursday and are looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season. Parker had a game-high 24 points in the win and Alana Beard added 20.

Beard is averaging 19.0 points on 64.0 percent shooting in her last two games after scoring 8.5 on 33.3 percent over her previous six games.

Last Saturday’s 101-74 win for San Antonio was their best game of the season. They shot a season-best shot 54.8 percent from the field and had their best game in nearly two years since a 102-91 win over Phoenix on July 28, 2011.

Danielle Robinson led the Stars with 24 points and Kayla McBride chipped in 20. Both teams have split the two games so far, with the home team winning each game. The two teams will meet for the fourth and final time in August.

The Sparks’ first meeting with the Stars in Los Angeles resulted in a 83-62 victory on May 25. It was their fifth straight home win in the series, including the postseason, with a 23.0-point average margin of victory.

The Stars and Sparks are set to tip-off at 2:30 p.m. central time at Staples Center. Be sure to check back after the game for Stephen Anderson’s game recap.
